Single and Multi-Pod Deployments

Start with what you need. Scale when you are ready.

PodTech’s modular pod architecture lets you begin with a single self-contained unit and expand at the pace your business actually demands. Multi-pod configurations scale horizontally without a ceiling. G+1 vertical expansion doubles your rack count within the same footprint. You are never locked into a scale you have outgrown, and never forced to overbuild for a future that has not arrived yet.

What Are PodTech’s Single and Multi-Pod Deployments?

PodTech builds modular data center pods that are factory-prefabricated, fully integrated, and power-up tested before they leave our facility. Each pod is a complete, self-contained unit. Power, cooling, fire suppression, structured cabling, IT racks, and environmental monitoring are all built in. When the pod reaches your site, it is operational.

A single 40-foot pod houses 6 racks at 10kW each. When you need more capacity, additional pods connect horizontally. When your site cannot expand outward, a second pod stacks vertically above the first through G+1 expansion, doubling rack count without touching the footprint. The multi-pod standard configuration runs 24 racks at 10kW each across four interconnected pods. Each one factory-built and tested to the same standard as the first.

  • Single 40-foot pod: 6 racks at 10kW per rack, fully integrated and factory-tested
  • Multi-pod standard: 24 racks at 10kW per rack across interconnected pods
  • Horizontal expansion without limits as demand grows
  • G+1 vertical expansion doubles rack count within the same footprint
  • Operational on delivery, no on-site commissioning required

The Problem with Fixed Infrastructure

Most data center decisions push organisations into one of two bad positions. Build for today and run out of capacity sooner than expected. Build for the future and tie up capital in infrastructure that sits underutilised for years.

Traditional construction makes this harder to escape. Once a facility is built, scaling it requires structural assessments, additional cooling plant, electrical upgrades, and another construction programme. Heavy upfront CapEx is committed before a single server is racked. For organisations whose requirements are growing but not yet at that scale, the economics rarely work.

PodTech’s pod architecture addresses both problems. You deploy what you need now. When requirements grow, you add a pod, factory-built and tested while your existing infrastructure keeps running. No construction on site. No disruption to operations.

Single-Pod vs Multi-Pod: At a Glance

Single-Pod

Multi-Pod

Rack Capacity

6 racks at 10kW per rack. Fully integrated, factory-tested, operational on delivery.

24 racks at 10kW per rack across four interconnected pods in the standard configuration.

Vertical Expansion

G+1 available. A second pod stacks above the ground unit, doubling rack count in the same footprint.

G+1 applies across multi-pod clusters. Horizontal and vertical scaling can be combined.

Best Suited For

Immediate compute needs, constrained sites, or a fast deployment without large upfront CapEx.

Growing or large-scale compute requirements that a single pod cannot accommodate.

Deployment Time

Weeks. Factory-built and power-up tested before shipping.

Weeks per pod. Additional pods added without disrupting live infrastructure.

What Is Inside Every Pod

The Shell

  • Multi-layer wall: Aluminum Composite Panel, Fiber Cement Board, and Rock Wool insulation
  • IP68-certified weather resilience, built for UAE ambient temperatures above 45 degrees Celsius
  • 120-minute fire rating, certified by Dubai Civil Defense
  • Seismically engineered structure

Power and Cooling

  • Main LV panel, UPS, battery, and rPDU pre-installed and factory-tested
  • In-Row or CRAC/PAC precision cooling, selected at configuration stage
  • Enclosed hot and cold aisle separation for thermal efficiency and low PUE

Additional Systems

  • Fire protection and suppression system, pre-installed
  • Cable trays and fiber raceway
  • Solar-ready, compatible with renewable energy sources
  • Every pod power-up tested at the factory before shipping

G+1 Vertical Expansion

G+1 is PodTech’s answer to a specific and common problem: a site that cannot expand outward but needs more compute.

A second pod stacks directly above the ground-level unit using the structural capacity built into every PodTech pod. Roof-mounted cooling compatibility is included. The upper pod carries the same integrated infrastructure as the lower one. The result is double the rack count within exactly the same footprint. A 40-foot plot that holds one pod at ground level holds two in a G+1 configuration, no additional land, no lease renegotiation.

How Deployment Works

  1. Requirements and Configuration: We establish rack count, power density, cooling approach, site conditions, and whether the deployment is a single pod, multi-pod cluster, or G+1 configuration. A practical conversation, not a procurement exercise.
  2. Factory Build: Every component, from the LV panel and UPS through to the rack infrastructure and fire suppression, is installed and integrated at our facility. The work happens at the factory, not on your site.
  3. Power-Up Testing: The pod is powered up and tested as a complete system before shipping. Cooling, power, and fire suppression are all verified. It leaves our facility in an operational state.
  4. Delivery and Connection: The pod arrives at your site ready to connect. On-site work is limited to power and network connection. For G+1, the upper pod is craned into position. For multi-pod clusters, pods are networked together.
  5. Handover: You receive full documentation, monitoring configuration, and ongoing support. When you add pods later, the existing infrastructure keeps running while the new one is being built.

Who Deploys PodTech Pod Configurations?

Organisations Scaling Incrementally

Companies whose compute requirements are growing but not at a pace that justifies large upfront commitment. A single pod gets them operational. Additional pods follow when the demand is real, not projected.

Enterprises with Constrained Sites

Organisations on sites where ground-level expansion is not available. G+1 delivers double the compute within the same footprint. In urban UAE locations where land is expensive and boundaries are fixed, this makes a material difference.

Government and Defense

Agencies requiring rapidly deployable, self-contained, and hardened compute infrastructure. PodTech has delivered pods for UAE defense projects. The architecture suits sovereign deployments where operational independence and physical resilience are non-negotiable.

Multi-Site Operators

Enterprises, retail groups, and industrial operators deploying infrastructure across multiple locations. The same pod specification, the same factory testing, the same deployment process at every site.

Cloud and Colocation Operators

Operators adding compute capacity to existing campuses in repeatable increments. Multi-pod configurations build toward data center scale without a single large construction programme.

Frequently asked questions

What is a single-pod data center?

A self-contained 40-foot modular data center unit holding six racks at 10kW per rack, with all power, cooling, fire suppression, cabling, and IT infrastructure factory-installed and tested. It arrives operational. Connect power and network, and it runs.

A second pod positioned directly above the ground-level unit, using structural capacity built into every PodTech pod. It doubles rack count within the same footprint. Designed for sites where horizontal expansion is not an option.

Yes, and this is how most multi-pod deployments start. The existing pod keeps running while the new one is factory-built. When it arrives, it connects to the first. No on-site construction, no disruption to live infrastructure.

Factory construction and site preparation run in parallel. Typical timelines are measured in weeks, not months. The exact schedule depends on configuration and site conditions, which PodTech maps during the requirements phase.

Every pod carries a 120-minute fire rating certified by Dubai Civil Defense and an IP68 weather-resilience rating. Wall construction uses Aluminum Composite Panel, Fiber Cement Board, and Rock Wool insulation. The structure is seismically engineered and thermally contained for UAE operating conditions.
